about

The second song that WR ever wrote way back in 2007, with Dan Rubiano on bass, Joe Youman on drums, and no one singing. The chorus from Dan's original lyrics was paired with my (KM) new verses, Steve wrote the intro that finally stuck after 10's of tries, and after 4 years of tinkering, "Eclipse" was finally complete.

Fun fact: the intro and the rest of the song are actually in two slightly different tempos. We didn't intend for it to be this way, but that was how we naturally played the song.

lyrics

I woke to the stinging sound
Of rain falling at my heels
As cold as the winter can hold
The burning of the land's sole
A harvest that won't yield
Salted earth this tetric ground

Block out the sun again
An air sweeps through the skin
A flood bleeds from our hands
And honesty's just too constricting

Our rate of progress must be slowed
While we can still amend
And time is slipping away
But we're content to watch it decay
And leave it to braver men
While we collect what we're owed

Block out the sun again
An air sweeps through the skin
A flood bleeds from our hands
And honesty's just too constricting
And I blocked out the sun again
An air sweeps through the skin
A flood bleeds from our hands
And honesty's just too constricting

We fall under the landslide
And concede that we won't heal
Lose hold of our duty and right
And make goddamn sure
That our egos overshadow the loss we feel

Block out the sun again
An air sweeps through the skin
A flood bleeds from our hands
And honesty's just too constricting
And I blocked out the sun again
An air sweeps through the skin
A flood bleeds from our hands
And honesty's just too constricting
